Your first visit with us is complementary, and our goal is to
provide you with a thorough exam and to educate you on your
bite and smile challenges. We will begin the process by taking
diagnostic records to determine the best course of treatment.
Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical and
dental history, clinical examination, models of the teeth,
photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-rays. This
information is used to develop a custom treatment plan by the
orthodontist for each patient. These records are also helpful
in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under
orthodontic care.
There are times in our practice that we can go ahead and begin
treatment within a week or so after your initial visit. If we
need to evaluate your diagnostic records to make further
treatment decisions, we will have your family come back for a
consultation appointment or will set up a phone consultation.
At this appointment we will discuss your treatment with you in
detail, including the cost for your particular case.
The day you begin your treatment (braces, expanders, etc.), the
appointment usually takes about two hours. You'll then see us
at regular intervals 6 to 8 weeks apart for an adjustment,
which takes 20 to 40 minutes. Our regular office hours are
Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5 PM in our Raleigh office
and from 9:00 AM to 5 PM on Wednesdays in our Zebulon office.
Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to
be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same
courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please
notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It is
difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 6
to 8 weeks in advance.
